Aims & Objectives

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF SINEGETHE TRUST CAN BE SUMMED UP IN THE FOLLOWING:

  1. To promote the interest and all-round welfare of the women folk who are socially, educationally and economically down-trodden people of India, irrespective of caste, creed and racial and cultural discrimination etc., through conscientization programme to a just society.
  2. To study the problems of women as well as the common linkage of weaker sections of the people and the focus attention on them, through concentrated action programmes.
  3. To enable the socially, educationally and economically down-trodden people, especially the women group who are the most ignored to realise and to fulfill their responsibilities in themselves, in socially to the country and to the world through given chances.
  4. To work in cooperation with the similar social welfare organization of India and other countries for the welfare of the weaker sections of the people in general.
  5. To promote community-based awareness generation for the self-assertiveness and capacity-building of the deserving women and the neglected.
  6. To promote leadership qualities, youth dynamism, self-research and self-identification of deserving women folk and marginalized social groups for the joint effort and organizational building for self-management.
  7. To organize residential care and the short-stay home for the destitute and orphan, women, children and the deserted for counselling and self-development of given need necessities.
  8. To impart formal and non-formal education, vocational training development alternative for the total empowerment of women and the poorest of the poor on their given reality.
  9. To work on the child-labour, girl-child oppression and on street-children for an alternate life unto organize sponsorship adoption and childcare for orphan and ready-children to become right citizens.
  10. To promote savings and credit through self-help groups (SHGs) and cooperative system among the rural poor and unorganized social groups or self-help income generation activities.
  11. To promote Loan from Rashtriya Mahila Ghosh (RMK), government of India or other national or International funding agency to strengthen the self-development of women and other deserving target social groups.
  12. To promote rural and human resource development for and equitable social order.
  13. To do the activities realting to welfare, development, research and protection of live-stock, animals, birds etc.
  14. To start a Matriculation school, Industrial training institute, teacher -training institute, catering and hotel management courses, information technology courses, college of arts and science for women, college of physical education, college of enginnering, college of Education and non-formal education centres, vocational training centres, open schools, mobile school for drop-outs and street children, formal school for poor and marginalized students/ people for educational and developmental activities.
  15. To start a medical college, attached with super multi-speciality hospital, college of nursing, mobile dispensary and free medical camp for poor and marginalized students/ people.
  16. To implement world peace and national integration and humanisation and eradication of terrorism from the world, prevention of territorism.
  17. To start a day care and residential care and special training centre for the mentally-handicapped.
  18. To start an art and craft training centre for the disadvantaged people.
  19. To provide training centres and apprenticeship in addition to basic education, non-formal education to the poorest sections of the community.
  20. To assist the poor including the handi-capped to become self-employed by equipping them to do so.
  21. To implement waste land development, sustainable agriculture and development.
  22. To organize plantation of herbal gardens.
  23. To implement social forest schemes.
  24. To launch eye-care initiative/ hospitals/ camps and follow up.
  25. To organize HIV/AIDS – intervention ( Epidemiological) at semi-urban locals beside regular health projects.
  26. To launch housing projects without health -hazards.
  27. To organize health education and supportive programmes.
  28. To Promote district-wide hygienic water-supply projects.
  29. To start a home for the aged.
  30. To educate the target social groups in rainfall water harvest management, waste-water management and to strengthen ground-water capacity.
  31. To organize live-stock and spice management sustainable agricultural promotion. Natural farming and a comprehensive environmental activities for a balanced eco-system.

Highlights of a few of our Activities

A. PREVENTION OF SMOKING
Smoking is very dangerous for lungs and blood due to heavy smoking many of the people are afflicted with T.B. We explained the public the dangers of smoking and to quit smoking. Through our campaign many people decided to do away with smoking.

B. HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Our organization men and volunteers conducted health campaigns at Pavithram and Variyur and explained to the people the importance of health. We affirmed that health is wealth and man can live without wealth but never without health for long time.

C. WOMEN AND CHILDREN CARE CAMPAIGN
Our organization identified the pregnant women and children and provided them with medicines and prudential diet. We explained to them about nutritious food and also the importance of eating the food filled with nutrition to the mother and child. We propagated this in our target areas.

D .THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEANLINESS
Our  volunteers visited the the slum  and rural area. We helped to clean the the streets, schools  and public parks. We explained to the public to keep up their houses and surrounding places clean and green.

E. CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Due to the fact then sizable village population of our target village are illiterate. They earn their daily living from daily labour and hired works. They are accustomed to use tobacco products knowingly or unknowingly. These practices make them susceptible for the attack of cancer.

F. ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Among women groups formed in all target villages, Environmental education has been given by inviting resource person, Experts and environmentalists in certain villages like Vanniyanagaram and Aruthirapattu etc., Environment education was arranged by inviting an enrolment list and the Editor of magazine: Mr.G.Lasar, B.Sc.. Wide publicity has been made about the bad effects of burning plastic waste, old cycle tyres and tubes in public places. Members of the rural women group were educated to keep the street clean so as to keep the water resources and surroundings clean. Good number of awareness camps were conducted in almost all our target villages.

G. PREVENTION OF AIDS
Aids is incurable dangerous disease. We conducted Aids campaigns at Tirukovilure Road  and Bus Stand. We displayed the literature to eradicate the HIV and aids to the public through O.H.P. pamphlets and  posters. We also educated the lorry drivers on dangers of AIDS.

This enabled us to implement such programmes so effectively and successfully. To win the hearts of rural masses and to join the hands with them for their empowerment.

About Us

SINEGETHE TRUST is one of the social service Organizations which has been working for the rural poor for the past 23 years.  It came in to force in June 1994. This was fired by the zeal to create a complete society by raising up the standard of  down-trodden in economic and social sectors.  It pays special attention to uplifting the weaker sections of the society, namely, women and children.

With that view in mind, it has implemented several projects for the benefit of the rural poor: especially poor women, widows, orphans, young widow, children and differently – abled persons, SC/ST and minority sector. Mother Teresa has been the indelible inspiration for this noble venture towards social and economic upliftment.  Its area operation is confined to Tiruvannamalai district and its surrounding villages.

In the  short span of its existence of first 3 years, although  very much of limited resources, of funds, using small available  local funds and voluntary self – sacrifice on the part of its  members and staff,  it  was able to achieve the  following:

  • 12 Health camps programmes were conducted for 50 adolescent girls from 8 villages.
  • Reproductive health campaign was conducted for 95 women from 12 villages.
  • Water conservation programmes for 5 months each 25 programmes.
  • Free legal Aid camp for 4 months each 12 programmes.
  • Aids awareness camp for 2 months each 14 programmes.
  • In SHG formation, 25 SHGs were formed up.
  • Environmental camp with 15 programmes for 2 months each.
  • Follow up health awareness especially on HIV/AIDS has been provided through 41 Dalits voluntary health workers covering a population of almost 5 thousands through contacts and meetings.

Youth Camp Organized

A leadership cum Talent – nurturing camp was organised for the youth of  Tiruvannamalai on 20th July 2017. Around 100 praticipants took part into it. They were instructed the effective ways of studying, time-management and honing one’s talents at  computer, gardening, basket-knitting etc.  The participants were very happy and enriched at the one -day camp. They promised to change their lives better for the good outcome on academic and leadership front. Besides, they promised to pick up one talent each on their personality front.

Self-help group meeting held

Self-Help  group meeting was organised in the Sinegethe trust premises tiruvannamalai on 15 July 2017. Women  representatives from the neighboring villages of Perumanam, Pavithram and Kizhnathur  came together for the meeting. The resource person from the local area and an experienced self-help group worker narrated from his experience the good and positive aspects of Self-help group. It promotes team work, management,  resource  gathering, local fundraising by selling the products and personal leadership skills. The participants were very happy to know the benefits and decided to promote more self-help groups in their locality.

Anti- Tobacco campaign

Anti Tobacco campaign was organised  on the   6  July 2017. It was organised with the local resource personnel. It dealt with the harmful  effects of tobacco. These days it is parceled in the attractive form of ‘Meeta  Pan’ , ‘ Tirang’ and soon. It harmful effects are seen in the damage of  lungs, brain , mouth, nose. It is deadly in the sense as it brings about cancer gradually to the avid  consumer  of  tobacco in its multifarious form. while seeing the harmful effects on the screen, many of the participants resolved to give up consuming  tobacco.

Prevention of Smoking

Smoking causes serious damage to the brain, lungs and the blood stream. Many are afflicted with T.B and Cancer.  We explained the harmful effects of smoking. They were shocked to find this. Many of them have resolved to give up smoking altogether.  In this direction, Our campaign for smoking turned out to an effective one.
